Goliath Safety Boots and Footwear.

Goliath Footwear Ltd has a long, long history in the production of quality safety footwear which includes the manufacture of Goliath Safety Boots.

The business was started in 1880 in Yorkshire,England.Part of the cooperative society it made boots for men in industries which required good solid footwear, although other products were made which included,  in the 1950s, Stanley Matthews’  ‘glove-like’ football boots.

Change of ownership.

After many years of successful trading the co-op decided to sell the business in order to streamline it’s portfolio and the firm was sold tothe Y.D.S. group who are still the owners.

Goliath continues to manufacture quality safety footwear for industrial markets and distributes into construction, utilities and civil engineering, light and heavy industrial and special hazard workplaces.

Some 10,000 pairs of boots and shoes are made per day and in addition there is ongoing research to improve and  to develop the best performing protective footwear for specialist industrial work environments.

Sales of Goliath Safety Boots and footwear are made in the UK and Internationally.

Goliath as part of the YDS group is the leading producer of Dual Density Rubber (DDR) injected soles in the world.

DDR Sole Technology

This is a special formula of rubber compound which is injected in two densities to the uppers; a tough rubber outer skin and a lower density midsole which air is injected into the rubber to create a lightweight shock absorbing cushioned bed for the foot.

This technology is important for those working and existing in harsh conditions where a highly durable but comfortable solution is required.It is the most reliable and strongest bond between upper and sole.

All Goliath’s safety footwear is manufactured to EN specifications and fully complies with the appropriate standard and the statutory requirement where applicable.
