Origins

The origins of the Timberland Brand especially Timberland Safety Boots and Timberland Footwear go right back to 1952.

It was in that year that Nathan Swartz, bought a half-interest in the Abington Shoe Company, U.S.A.

He later  bought out his partner and introduced his sons into the business.

Today Timberland is a Worldwide Company.

It retails and manufactures in Canada, the United Kingdom, South America, the E.U., Australia and South Africa.

The famous Timberland name is born.

Shortly following the introduction mof injection-molding waterproof technology to the footwear industry, which allowed the creation of the first WATERPROOF leather boots.

In 1973 the original waterproof boots called the “Timberland” were invented.

These were rugged, well-made, and—thanks to the new technology, they withstood the elements.

These superior boots set new standards for waterproof performance in the footwear industry.

They were equally popular with outdoor enthusiasts who needed protection in all conditions, professionals in many trades who needed rugged dependable gear, and many others who just wanted a great looking pair of boots.

These groundbreaking boots defined the company.

So much so that in  1978 the entire company was renamed TIMBERLAND.

In 1999 the Timberland PRO® Series is launched. This delivers a selection of footwear made to the highest standards giving performance and protection to skilled workers everywhere.
