The minimum standards for safety footwear are set out by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The current standard for Safety Footwear across Europe, which was updated in 2011 is EN ISO 20345:2011.

This standard states that all new safety footwear must have a toe protection against a 200 joule impact, the amount of energy the toe region can absorb before breaking.

Black Hammer products, of course, comply with these regulations and also comply with one of the strict anti-slip standards which they specify with each pair.
